You don’t need a classroom to help your child learn. Some of the best lessons happen at the kitchen table, in the car or during bath time. Here are five simple ideas to try this week.
1. Count everything
Stairs, spoons, cars of a certain colour — counting out loud builds number sense without feeling like “work”. Number flash cards make a great follow-up game.
2. Play “I spy” with letters
Swap colours for sounds: “I spy something that starts with b.” It’s a fun way to practise phonics, in English or Urdu.
3. Let them help in the kitchen
Measuring, pouring and sorting ingredients builds fine motor skills and early maths vocabulary like more, less and half.
4. Make a busy-book corner
Keep a few activity books in a basket your child can reach. Short, independent play sessions build focus and confidence.
5. Talk about the world
Spot a flag on TV or a famous building in a book? Pause and chat about it. Curiosity grows when questions are welcomed.
Small, playful moments add up. Pick one idea and give it a try today!
